Instructions for authors

Detailed instructions for the papers are summarised below.

Papers must be submitted through the conference website no later than 30 April 2025.

At least one author is required to attend the conference. If not, the paper will not be presented nor published.

Paper submission is in two steps:

1. Prior to the conference

Manuscripts must be submitted through the conference website no later than 30 April 2025. Only the corresponding author, who submitted their abstract, can submit the manuscript through their account.

Manuscripts must be either in MS Word or in PDF format. Details are provided below. They not submitted by the absolute deadline of 30 April 2025 will not be considered.

2. After the conference

For full papers, the corrected manuscripts, based on the first reviews, must be submitted to Applied Radiation and Isotopes (ARI) no later than 30 June 2025 at:

For ICRM Technical Series papers, corrected manuscripts, based on the first reviews, must be sent to the Scientific Secretary of ICRM 2025 at icrm2025@cea.fr before 30 June 2025.

Papers not delivered by the absolute deadline of 30 June 2025 will not be published.

The Coordinating Referee (CR) of the conference session, to which your presentation was assigned by the Scientific Committee, will name the referees of your paper. The CR or one of the referees will contact you concerning their review. Although the ICRM 2025 proceedings will be published on two different platforms (in Elsevier’s Applied Radiation and Isotopes and in ICRM’s online and open-access Technical Series on Radionuclide Metrology), the review process and criteria will be identical for both, according to the guidelines given here and in the ARI guide for authors (see below).

Acceptance of an abstract for presentation at the conference and submission of a manuscript does not automatically imply that it will be published in the ICRM 2025 proceedings issue of the journal Applied Radiation and Isotopes or in the ICRM 2025 proceedings issue of the ICRM Technical Series on Radionuclide Metrology (ISSN 2522-4328). Publication of the manuscripts is subject to the result of a refereeing procedure. It is, therefore, of utmost importance for the authors to present manuscripts that comply with the guidelines given below and on the website for ARI manuscript preparation (see below). Furthermore, comments of the Scientific Committee discussed during abstract selection, if any, must be followed.

Manuscripts must be submitted in English and comply with the guidelines given here and in the ARI guide for authors. A paper that does not comply with the guidelines will be returned for revision and may be rejected from publication if it is not revised appropriately and in due time. Please note that a manuscript will be accepted for publication in the proceedings only if it has not been published previously and if it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Statements of numerical results (e.g. activities, decay-scheme data, etc.) must conform to the Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement (JCGM 100:2008). An uncertainty budget must be given for any experimental results. Do not communicate confidence limits but only coverage factors. Quantities and units must comply with The International System of Units.

All authors must submit their manuscripts as computer files (MS Word or PDF format), double-line spaced, in Times New Roman 12 pt font type or equivalent. As a guideline, the length of the paper should not exceed about 6 printed journal pages, which are about 6000 words including tables and figures. Those who would prefer LaTeX must use the journal template available in the ARI guide for authors. Attention should be paid to conciseness, yet not at the expense of essential information such as, for example, an uncertainty budget. Small figures and tables (if printable in a single column) represent about 200 words. Large figures and tables represent 400 to 750 words, sometimes even more.

All authors must submit their manuscripts as computer files (MS Word or PDF format), double-line spaced, in Times New Roman 12 pt font type or equivalent. As a guideline, the expected length of the paper is typically between 3 and 4 proceedings pages for a total of about 3000–4500 words including tables and figures. Those who would prefer LaTeX must use the template available below. Attention should be paid to conciseness, yet not at the expense of essential information such as an uncertainty budget. Small figures and tables (if placed in a single column) represent about 200 words. Large figures and tables represent 400 to 750 words.

After a final reviewed manuscript is agreed with the referees, authors of Technical Series papers must submit their manuscripts in camera-ready format (all tables and figures integrated in the text) in MS Word or LaTeX format making use of the Technical Series template, which will be made available on the conference website at a later stage in the review process. Font size and text formatting, including formatting of title, authors, institutions, figures, tables and references, are given in the template. An abstract of no more than 80 words (i.e., NOT a verbatim copy of the submitted abstract) must be supplied.
